Labor Day Weekend...

A fine Labor Day it was... A much needed 3-day weekend as well, though, of course, we were busy! Saturday, we went for a bike ride in the nearby park and got to see some of the drum and bugel corps practicing for a contest later that evening. Was very cool. Sunday - packed up the bikes and drove a little way and rode bikes along the Erie Canal in Pittsford! Just a lovely ride. Espen falls asleep on the bike now, and I have not quiet mastered how to help place his head...mostly, it bobs around, back and forth...Today, we had a visit from Kiera (see below), then a little BBQ get together in our back yard: Jessica, Anatole, kids, Andrea and Mike (jessica's parents) and Jon and Carolina - our good friends! Was a great time. Really love having a busy, buzzing back yard! It's really lovely. And, we borrowed the neighbors picnnic table....(might offer them $10 for it!) washed all the caked on dirt, and used it! Was great! We had a nice time...

Our dear friend, Kiera (of the duo - " Our neighbors the Fabers..." who moved to MN last summer... She was here for a visit with her family and spent the morning with us...It was great to catch up and visit! Loved seeing you Kiera!
Our new friend, Herbie the praying mantis! I have never seen one in real life before, but today when Sofia and I were washing a table outside, this guy climbed up on the soap bottle! We put him back up in a tree. Pretty cool! (would hate to be a mosquito or something....YIKES!) He was about 3 inches long...

Um. Well. I really don't know what is going on here, except that Sofia wore this outfit most of the day - it consists of 2 dish towels, one of which had a large rip in it...apparently, these make delightful outfits/blankets. Just tie one around your waist and drape the other over your head...Espen just wonders what she is up to...
"naping..."
Seriously, like I said, multipurpose...blanket, smock, dress...here she is pretending to take a nap on the front porch....nice. Hope child protective services doesn't show up on my front door...
Espen out for a walk - with a walking stick!

Espen eating his popsicle
And Bennie eating his.
Sweet Jessica!
Making good use of our back yard!!! LOVE it! So nice to have such nice friends over to enjoy a beautiful day!
Espen and Lars now eating ice cream and brownie.
Jon and Carolina! Such sweet people.
Espen's first "babysitter" from when we got back from Poland - Andrea (Jessica's mom) - He convinced her to give him ANOTHER cookie!
Jessica with both boys - quite a handful.
ahhhh, yes, that's Anatole. With his geeky chair (i'm actually just jealous!)
The girls swinging in tandem.
