AOA - Alpha Omega Alpha

For those of you who may not be familiar, this is a medical honor society which dates back to 1902 who's motto is "Worthy to serve the suffering".  Election to this society is made, in medical school, primarily on academics and generally about the top 10% of the class is inducted.  Here in Rochester, each year the students chosen for AOA are allowed to elect up to 3 residents who they think exemplify the ideals of the AOA including scholarship, professionalism, and teaching.  This year, I was flattered and humbled to find out that I was one of 2 residents (out of the 500+ residents here) to be chosen by the medical students for induction into this prestigious group!  Interestingly, my colleage and co-neurology resident Dr. Jonathan Marcus was also chosen for induction as well as the faculty member who is one of our Child Neurologists - All of us are from Neurology!  

Last night was the award dinner which took place at a very fancy establishment with fantastic food, wine and award presentations to all of the student, resident, and facutly inductees.  One of the medical students I worked with for a couple of weeks last year said some very nice things about me in my introduction.  I was incredibly flattered to be part of this group!  So, Thank you to the University of Rochester 4th year AOA Medical Students for this honor.

A rare photo of JUST Lars and I - we actually left the kids with a babysitter!  GASP!  Despite all of my worry, they did just fine.  Our babysitter was one of Sofia's teachers!
