It's true - Last night , Sofia broke her arm. She was, of course, galloping like a horse on all 4's. Suddenly, something happened and she fell on her wrist - she came up holding it. She was not bouncing back, and therefore, I knew something was wrong. So, I broke the rule (" no going to the hospital on mamma's time off"). We went to the hospital. I made sure to call ahead and pull a little "I am one of the neuro chief resident" kinda things...It turns out that we met our backyard neighbor walking into the hosptial who is a senior surgery resident and took us right to the orthopedic resident. She then looked at Sofia's arm under a small portable x-ray machine - the first picture looked fine, then she turned her arm and - THERE IT WAS - even the neurologist could see that the bone was not lining up right...ugh...I'll admit, there was a moment..."oh god, my little baby really DID break her arm". Then we pulled it together and got the real x-rays and a splint. She will get a real cast to wear for a couple of weeks in a week. Just so you know, this is a "buckle fracture" which is a really good fracture to have. should heal without any issues! (yea!) And we were only in the ED for 1.5 to 2 hours!
To top it off...she had her first dentist appointment this morning. They were really great and she did awesome. NO cavities! Then off to school for the day - she did just fine. Funny, it's been so quiet without the sound of galloping hooves in my house...
